Dear Knox Church Family,

I’m excited to contribute to the e-notes this week with some great news for our church. Over the past few months your Session has been working hard to discern what next steps we will take as a congregation to best care for our people, reach people who don’t know God, and grow our church together. We have prayed for you and spent time asking God to guide these next steps. Over the year of vacancy, Deb Roberts filled an interim position that was directly involved in providing care to the congregation.

Session has decided that this is a position worth developing and filling moving forward. With that said, we have officially listed the position and are accepting applications for a Director of Congregational Care. If you know someone who would be a great fit for this job, please encourage them to apply! This part-time position will help ensure that as a team, the staff and volunteers at Knox are caring for the congregation in new and life-giving ways.

In the book of Acts, there is a great moment where the Apostles realize that they need to bring along more leaders to meet the needs of a growing church. They appoint some who would care for the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of the church. Our hope for this position is that it will allow us to meet the needs of a growing, multi-generational congregation.

I am excited. Thanks in advance for your prayers for the Session, those who will apply, and God-willing, a successful candidate to join our team at Knox.

1. Mustard Seed Schools in Indonesia

This year’s Christmas Mission Project is Adding Classrooms to Mustard Seed Schools in Indonesia with Mustard Seed Mission International. It is the hope of the Knox Mission & Outreach Ministry Team that we raise sufficient funds to enable Mustard Seed to add 5 classrooms to existing schools, so that children can continue their education to completion. To build one classroom requires $1,500, so our goal is $7,500. This Christmas fundraising project runs until December 31st. To donate you can use the blank space on your offering envelope or use an envelope provided on the Cloth Wall in the Gathering Hall. Cheques are to be made out to Knox Church with the designation MUSTARD SEED ADD A ROOM. See the Display Case in the Gathering Hall for additional information and track our progress on the Cloth Wall!

Mustard Seed’s Motto is... We Teach. We Love. They Lead. We Teach - in every classroom and children’s home that Mustard Seed runs, they teach in words and deeds about our greatest Hope. Driven by that Hope, teaching is their small act of worship. It starts mustard seed-sized, but with God’s blessing they are confident it will grow into something much bigger.

2. Warm Fingers and Warm Toes.

December 8th will be the last opportunity to donate to the Warm Fingers and Toes Project.  Thank you to those who have added socks, hats, mittens, and scarfs to our collection display. If you are still considering donating, we would appreciate more mittens to keep those fingers warm! See the attachment for ideas of what types of clothing really work outside for those living on the streets.
