Missions & Outreach

Mission

The people of Knox Waterdown welcome the opportunity to use their resources and talents to help the less fortunate in our neighbourhood, our country and the world as directed by our Lord (James 2:14-26).

Through the Missions & Outreach Team, the congregation of Knox makes a difference by regularly supporting the work of:

  • Presbyterian World Service & Development, which supports targeted projects around the world
  • Inner City Ministries (Hamilton) are supported both financially and with articles collected in the fall from the Warm Finger and Warm Toes project.
  • Flamborough Food Bank with on-going donations of food and money. Knox follows a list of "item of the month".
  • Hamilton Out of the Cold each Wednesday from the first of November to the end of March a takeaway meal is prepared for those in need and available for pick up from 4 to 5pm.
  • Sewing for Missions Ladies meet once a week to sew projects for local or international agencies
  • Save the Mothers (Uganda) with a Mother's Day project, for example there is an annual fundraising Walk held in the Dundas Driving Park.
  • A Christmas Project appeal each year for a selected international, national, or local need. The team matches funds received to a maximum of $2000.
  • Presbyterians Sharing, the national church fund that supports the overall mission and ministry of The Presbyterian Church in Canada
