Information for New Members

Welcome to Knox Presbyterian Church, Waterdown!  We want to welcome you to our church family and hope to make your time with us as enjoyable as possible.  We have outlined below answers to questions you may have, but should you have further questions we are happy to help answer them.  Please feel free to contact us with your questions.

What to expect on Sunday?

When you arrive at Knox enter through the entrance closest to the parking lot.  As you enter you will be welcomed by a greeter who will provide you with a bulletin outlining the order of service and who will happily answer any questions you may have.  After the service stay and have coffee with the congregation – we would love to get to know you.

There are two Sunday services - the first is a contemporary service that begins at 9AM.  The second is a more traditional service that begins at 11AM.  During the summer we offer a single Sunday service at 10AM. For more information about our services please see Sunday Sermons.

What should I wear?

Come as you are!! Sometimes knowing what to wear is a concern when first visiting a church.  At Knox we want you to feel comfortable, you will fit in fine wearing jeans and a t-shirt or suit and tie.

How do I get to Knox?

Please see the Contact page for directions and the Knox Presbyterian Church address.

Where should I park?

There is a parking lot attached to Knox where you are welcome to park.  If the parking lot is full when you arrive, there are a number of streets close by that allow street parking.

What is there for my kids?

At Knox adults and children worship God together.  Following a time of worship through song and prayer the children (ages 3-11) are invited to the front for the children’s story and song.  They will then take part in a faith filled Children’s Ministry program for the remainder of the service.

We also have an excellent nursery for your little ones.

How do I join in?

There are lots of opportunities for new people to get involved at Knox.  You can work with youth or help with the support of our mission projects.  There are opportunities to greet on Sunday mornings or to help with refreshments.  Maybe pastoral care is something you are interested in.   Pastor Grant or other members of the congregation would be happy to discuss opportunities with you.

Should I be active at church?

Absolutely!!  As a newcomer it can sometimes be intimidating to get involved in the church family, however what better way to build relationships and feel like you belong, than to get involved?  Being part of an active community with the people of God will help you build stronger relationships with other members of the church community.  And not to worry, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved at Knox.

What else is going on at Knox?

Knox is a community fully alive in Jesus Christ and there are numerous ways that you can be part of our community through Knox's programs/ministries and groups. Call the Church Office and ask to receive Knox's weekly e-mail called Knox E-Notes.
