Last night was the first meeting of the New Year for the elders of Knox. It was a productive night in our planning and preparation for the 2015 year of ministry.
The elders have set the date of Sunday, February 1st for the ordination of Lisa Proctor and the admission of Lisa, George Wilkinson, Betty Porterfield and Jim Hill as Session Elders. All four will be present at both services on this Sunday so you can meet them and give them your encouragement and support as they begin this new calling of God to serve us as elders in our church family.
Along with the addition of new elders we have two of our elders who have finished their service as part of the elder leadership team at the end of December. Shirley Wilson has completed a six year term as an elder. Shirley has been a wonderful leader in Knox bringing a deep commitment to prayer and seeing people grow in their faith in Christ Jesus. She has been an invaluable part of our leadership team. John Drake, our Clerk of Session, is stepping back after serving as an elder for five years. John has tirelessly served Knox as an elder offering his leadership and giftings in innumerable ways. As the Clerk of Session he has led with a visionary faith for God’s work in our church family and the wider community. The Session are going to miss the wonderful partnership in ministry we have enjoyed with both Shirley and John. We are grateful to God their commitment to ministry in our church family will continue on.
Last night the elders approved a motion to have Marianne Janes as the new Clerk of Session. I hope you will take the opportunity over the next number of weeks to speak with Marianne and offer her your encouragement and support as the Knox Clerk of Session. The members of our elder leadership team are:
Mark Hagar Mary Siegner
Jim Hill Betty Porterfield
Marianne Janes – Clerk Lisa Proctor
Brenda Marriott George Robertson – Moderator
Shannon Matter George Wilkinson
Thank you for your faithfulness in praying for us as Knox elders. We do value the trust and confidence you have in us as we seek to lead our church family in the way of Christ.
